The Krossobanen is the oldest cable-way in Scandinavia, which still is in ordinary traffic. It is located in Rjukan - less than a mile west of the city-centre. The ride from the lower station Krosso - at 403 m - to the upper station Gvepseborg- at 886 m, takes no more than 4½ min. The view in all directions is just spectacular - and if you talke the walk a few steps up to the observation tower at the upper station - you will be able to enjoy en even more unique view. The Vestfjorddalen Valley, Mount Gausta, the Gausdalen valley and the Vemork area are just a few places you can see. And being at Gvepseborg - you are just a few steps away from reaching the Hardangervidda National Park - which is the largest in Europe.
